Sustaining Good Relations
Building on the concepts of Good relations. This course is designed at a more advanced level to ensure that Good Relations work can be practically implemented.
This course takes place over 12 hours of training contact time – customarily delivered as four 3-hour sessions. In addition, participants will also explore and reflect on the topic independently; and identify and engage in a practical peacebuilding activity; amounting in total to 20 hours of learning.
The content covered will give participants an opportunity to explore identity and Good Relations. Sustaining Good Relations (level 2) is suitable for participants who have some experience with addressing community relations issues.
Topics covered will include:
- Identity and belonging
- Peace building within a divided society – theory & practice
- Prejudice and discrimination – impact on individuals and society
- Evaluation of peace building activity
These topics will be covered using a mixture of practical exercises, group discussion, input from trainers and personal reflection. Participants will also be encouraged to work independently on the subject between sessions using discussion with other people and observation of relevant media reports. They will be organised in pairs or small groups to support the development and implementation of their chosen peace building activities.
